Recitals

Each year in December and June, all of our music students have the opportunity to perform on stage for our Christmas and Spring Recitals. Our dance students put on their year end show each June. Our productions are held in professional theatres with state of the art facilities.

Music students additionally have the opportunity to participate in LAAPAFEST, our annual music competition. During LAAPAFEST, students prepare and perform one solo piece for a panel of three judges. The judges then give each student constructive remarks, an overall rating and ultimately select 25 students to perform in our annual Honors Recital.

While performing in our recitals is always optional for all students, it is highly encouraged for several reasons.

Building Self Confidence

Getting up on stage in front of a large audience can be intimidating, but with the right preparations, it is a skill that can be mastered and utilized in many different areas of life.

Accomplishment

Performing is a natural way of concluding the efforts and preparations the student has put into a piece of music or dance routine.

Inspiration

Performing for any group of people is an emotional experience not only for the performer but also for the audience as well. Audience members will appreciate the performance, but one never knows who in the audience will additionally be inspired to perhaps try a new program or work harder at one they are already studying.

Programs from past recitals as far back as 2000 may be found in our News and Event Archives.
