Performance Opportunities
As the study of music and dance go hand in hand with performing, our students receive numerous opportunities each year to demonstrate the culmination of their hard work in concert.
In addition to being active performers in our productions, students are able to share in the performances of their peers in programs other than their own giving them regular exposure to and hopefully a well rounded appreciation for the many disciplines offered in the performing arts.
Each year, music students additionally have the option of participating in LAAPAFEST, our annual competitive event. During LAAPAFEST, students prepare a solo piece from memory for a panel of 3 judges. The judges then give each student constructive remarks, an overall rating, and ultimately select 26 students (from all three of our campuses) to perform in a special recital.
We understand that it is not the goal of all students to perform in concert. This is why recital participation at LAAPA is always optional (yet highly encouraged!).
